1. Introduction

Memedex ("App", "we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our mobile application.

2. What Information Do We Collect?

Information You Provide:

• Meme Images: Only images YOU select are processed locally on your device
• Custom Tags: Tags you create are stored locally on your device
• Search Queries: Searches happen only on your device

Information We DO NOT Collect:

• ❌ Your name, email, or phone number
• ❌ Your location
• ❌ Your contacts or messages
• ❌ Your browsing history
• ❌ Device identifiers or tracking IDs
• ❌ Advertising data

3. How We Store Your Data

Your meme images, extracted text, and custom tags are stored in a local database on your Android device only. We cannot access your data, and no one else can unless they have physical access to your device.

4. Permissions We Request

READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (Android 12 and below)

Allows you to select meme images from your photo gallery. We only access files you explicitly select.

READ_MEDIA_IMAGES (Android 13+)

Modern permission for accessing photos. We respect all device restrictions.

5. Third-Party Services

Google ML Kit

We use Google ML Kit for OCR (text recognition). Text recognition happens on your device, not on Google's servers. However, Google may collect anonymized usage data according to their privacy policy.

Other Services

We do NOT use:

• Analytics (Google Analytics, Mixpanel, etc.)
• Advertising services
• Crash reporting tools
• Any other third-party tracking

6. Deleting Your Data

You have complete control over your data:

• Delete individual memes anytime
• Delete specific tags
• Use "Clear All Data" in Settings to delete everything
• Uninstalling the app removes all data

Once deleted, data cannot be recovered. We don't keep backups.

7. Children's Privacy

Memedex does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. Parents should monitor children's use to ensure appropriate content is stored.

8. Security

Your data is as secure as your device. We recommend:

• Keep your Android device updated
• Use a strong lock (PIN, pattern, or fingerprint)
• Install the app from official sources only

9. Data Sharing

We do not share your data with anyone.

The only exception is when YOU explicitly use the "Share" button to share a meme with someone. This uses your device's native sharing mechanism, so you're in full control.

10. Your Rights

• See all your stored memes and data
• Delete any or all data anytime
• No ads or tracking to opt out of
• No accounts or subscriptions

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last Updated" date at the top will change if we do. Your continued use of the app means you accept any updates.
